January was a tough month for the UGs, but February looks brighter. It’s the month of Black History and the ill-fated Valentine’s Day. Sure, Carina and I don’t have dates for V-Day, but that’s never been a guarantee of a roaring good time. This is our first year being single on V-Day and even though we’ve doted over boyfriends in the past, there’s no double suicides in our future. On the bright side, the UGs will be wiping away tears of joy at February’s upcoming events. Here’s a few to look out for:
DineLA has been extended: Yay! DineLA has been extended through Feb 5th and prices will range from $16-$ 28 for lunch and $26-$44 for dinner. Who will you hit up at these can’t resist prices? And can we join you? Please! Maybe we’re too available…
LA Street Food Festival: Shawna Dawson, of SauceLA and former community manager of Yelp LA, and UniqueLA have teamed up to bring you LA’s first food truck festival for Valentines Day weekend on Feb. 13th. “The goal is to get as much L.A. street food (from taco trucks to chic trucks) in one spot with entertainment, live art, music and, quite possibly, a pop-up UniqueLA mini-market,” explained Shawna Dawson. And just to add more sugar to the incentive pot, rumor has it that the UGs will be raffling off a five-stop (and course) limo-ride dinner in downtown with who else, the UGs. We think that’s a good thing… We’ll keep you posted, my lovelies.
Cupcake Challenge: Come and sample LA’s best cupcakes on Feb 20 at the Renaissance Hotel, Hollywood from 12-3P. Admission is $40. The UGs will be judges so come and say hello. There will be so much sugar and icing there that you may just wet yourself. Some of the vendors include: Layers, Southern Girl Desserts, Just Minis, Taverns, and Charmed Cupcakes among many others.
80’s Prom Party: is February 26th at the Renaissance Hotel, Hollywood at 9P until 2A. Tickets are a steal at $30. And lastly, and my favorite part, 100% of the proceeds will go to the local animal rescue/shelter. You know the UGs will be there, we had so much fun at last year’s prom.
Buy Flowers on V-Day and give to Charity: Organized by LA’s, Taste of the Nation, the idea is that if you buy flowers on V-day, you are automatically donating to charity. That simple. Dandelion Ranch is an LA florist and by purchasing a bouquet from Dandelion Ranch a percentage will be donated to TOTNLA. Call them up here: (323) 640-1590, then say “Valentine’s Day promotion.” It’s that easy. Buy flowers and kids get food. Also, if you really want to be a baller, participating restaurants will deliver flowers tableside to your date and will give also give a donation to Taste of the Nation. Right now Fig, Grace and Ford’s Filling Station are in.
